Other Frequently Asked Questions About Auto Glass Across America and Windshield Replacement
(1) What about the inspection stickers on my windshield?
We will swap your old stickers over to your new windshield. You don't have to wait in line at
the DMV or go through the hassle of a new inspection. We also transfer military base and
school stickers for our customers.
(2) It looks like it's going to rain tomorrow. Can you still get the job done if it rains?
We do not advise having your new auto glass installed in the rain. That does not mean that we cannot do it. We can do it if you have proper cover such as a parking garage, garage at your home or something else that would provide a suitable working environment.
(3) What if my windshield leaks?
Our windshields rarely leak, and all of our windshields come with a lifetime warranty against
leakage. If your windshield leaks, call us immediately, and we will take care of the problem for you.
(4) If you repair the chip on my windshield, will it pass inspection?
A properly repaired chip will almost certainly pass inspection - This is because a properly repaired chip is almost invisible to the unknowing eye. If a chip is in the
driver's line of vision and is still visible it may not pass in some states. We recommend that our customer service representatives advise you based on your specific locale and orientation of the chip. If you are considering the possibility of having a chip filled we advise you to have it done as soon as possible so the area does not become contaminated. Do not touch the area or try to clean it yourself. The area needs to be free of dirt, oils and any other foreign material that may prevent a perfect bond.
(5)My windshield is leaking. Can you replace the seal?
If we originally installed the windshield for you, we will come and fix the problem at no cost. We also fix leaking windshields installed by other companies - We advise you make the original company provide proper customer service and take care of it at no cost. If they will not, we can do it but be advised that this will require a new windshield. You may be shocked that we can't simply squirt more glue or patch up the leak, but in order to create a proper bond we need to remove the leaking windshield. A windshield can almost never be removed without it breaking. We have to look under the windshield and find out what is causing the leak. There are a number of reasons a windshield could leak. There could be rust, bad urethane placement, too little adhesive, uneven placement of urethane, etc.. The bottom line is that the windshield needs to be removed, which means it will break, so the technician can repair the problem and properly bond the windshield to the car. Setting a windshield needs to be done right the first time. Once it is set there is no way to go back to change a mistake.
(6)What about my rear view mirror?
Swapping your rear view mirror to your new windshield is part of our job. There is not an additional cost for this service.
